Starlooks Starbox - December 2013

I'm a sucker for a palette. I have more eyeshadows than I am willing to count, and I always want more more more!

So when I found out last month that Starlooks would be sending out another 15 shade eyeshadow palette like they did last December, I had to sign back up for November and December. And I've enjoyed these last 2 months so much that I think I'll stick around awhile longer, even though more makeup is the last thing I need!

My box arrived last week, and I am currently having a lot of fun with it!

I love the cute packaging every month, it always feels like opening a present. This month brings a glossy white box with gold print, tied with green elastic. Super cute!

Inside, the box is covered with pretty gold tissue. I didn't get them in the picture, but they've included 2 of their signature quartz crystals, which I collect in a little cup on my vanity.

This year's palette is called New Years Eve 2014! Last year's what a mix of very bright reds, yellows, greens, blues, and purples. This year's is much more neutral with a few seasonally appropriate pops of color! My neutrals collection is shamefully small, so I am excited about this!

Opening it up, I see that there is a nice mix of shimmers/satins and mattes. I did very quick swatches of all of the shades on my bare arm. Some are very decently pigmented, while a few (specifically the mattes) tend to be more sheer. Now, I am super pale, so the lighter shades are hard to see in the swatches, but they do show up nicely on the eyes!

Each picture below has 5 swatches, starting with the bottom row.

The silver and the green are pretty amazing! The matte berry shade is definitely the most sheer and the hardest to work with of the bunch.

I don't think I'd have paid full price ($99!) for this palette, but the colors are nice and it is a very good deal for what I paid. As usual, I am happy with my Starbox, and I'm glad I did sign back up.

Starlooks Starbox - June 2013

June marked Starlooks' one year anniversary! June's box delivered staple products they thought we could use every day. (I do my makeup differently every single day, because I'm crazy and I get bored, so I don't really HAVE staple products, but, that's beside the point...) The looks book and card featured a mod 60s look that was really fun, and there was special anniversary packaging, too!

The anniversary box is super cute, and the black and white theme matches the theme of the looks book and contents card.

This month, we received three products and a little extra.

Bronzer in Montego Bay - This is a bronzer with a satin finish. It can be used to contour, and can also be used on the body! Note that it looks darker in the photo than it really is! Now, this product is a scary one for me - I am pale and pink toned, and I have never had a tan in my life, so items meant to make you look tan generally look terrible on me. But, I am going to play with this and try to find a way to make it work for me! Someone suggested using it for contouring under my foundation, and I think I'll be giving that a try soon.

Eye Pencil in White - This is a creamy eyeliner pencil in white. As with Starlooks' other pencils, it is very soft and creamy! It can be used on the waterline to make the eyes look better, or it can be used on the lid as a shadow base. I will likely use it for both! I have recently come to love white liners, so I am happy to get this.

Precision Eye Pen in Black - This is a fine tipped liquid liner in black. This is actually their first repeated product (they generally don't repeat exact items, but to me it makes sense to repeat basics like a black liquid liner after a year or so)  - they sent it out in their very first box, and it is a great staple item. I love that you can get a really fine line with it.

The bonus is a cute peace sign pin. It goes with the mod theme of the month, and while I've seen a lot of people complain about it, I think it's pretty cute and will attach it to a jean jacket or one of my messenger bags.

As always, this box was a really great value. I do have to say that I am a bit disappointed in this anniversary box, simply because there is nothing exciting in it! The liners are nice, and I don't have and have never really used a bronzer so that will be interesting to play with...but it's hard to get excited over a box full of staples! I wish they had included one fun color item! Regardless, Starlooks remains one of my favorite subs and I'm really excited to see what they do for July.

Starlooks Starbox - May 2013

I'm a little late with this one, as I got it last week...but better late than never! As this is my favorite sub, I couldn't let it go unposted.

Starlooks is a monthly sub service that sends out three or four full sized makeup items from their line. The products are amazing quality and the customer service is phenomenal. They are a fun company and I love this sub every single month!

This month, Starlooks went with a tribal theme. The thing I love about this sub is that they send me shades I'd never buy, and I end up loving them. This month is no exception!

The packaging this month was extra cute! I'm keeping this one to organize...something. I love the fact that they change the box each month to complement the contents. This month, we got three products and a bonus!

This is an Eyebrow Shader Compact. It is intended to help fill and sculpt your brows, regardless of their color! These are slightly less pigmented than their eyeshadows, and as such, can be worn as shadows as well. I love this as I have very few neutrals, and I admit that my brows are severely neglected. I'm really happy to try this out!

This is a Pigment luster in Cinnamon Toss! It's a gorgeous loose pigment in a golden brown, almost olive shade. It is super pretty, pigmented but not too much.

This cream blush in Emphasize is a dark brick red color. It looks intimidating but goes on nice and sheer, and is buildable. It has a dewy moisturizing finish, and on my pale skin, it looks like a nice natural flush. This is a color I never would have picked out for myself, but I have absolutely fallen in love with it!

This month, the bonus is a mini file in a cute tribal pattern! I am excited to have a mini to keep in my bag!

Altogether, this box has a value of $55 and I am very happy with it! Every single item will be used, as usual. I've already worn everything a few times, actually! I've swatched the blush and luster, since they look a bit intimidating in pan.

Here is the Emphasize cream blush. The top is a single swipe, and on bottom is a swipe blended out. As you can see, it is super wearable even on my pale skin.

And here is the pigment luster in Cinnamon Toss, applied in a single heavy line and then blended down, so you can see how it can be dramatic or a sheer shimmery veil. So pretty!

Here's a quick basic look I wore using the brow kit (lighter two shades on my lids), pigment luster (blended into my crease), and blush ( on my cheeks, and I had the blush dabbed on my lips, as well!) Not so intimidating when worn!

As always, I'm loving my Starbox. Have you tried Starlooks yet?

Starlooks Birthday Box - 2013

I just had a birthday in April, so I received a surprise from Starlooks! On the month of your birthday, they send you an extra box of goodies, for free!  They change up the goodies each year, so you won't receive the same birthday box twice.

I received mine a few days ago!

It comes with a cute little birthday card and three items.

The first item is an eye pencil in Onyx. It's a basic black pencil liner, and it's a really nice one! It's nice and soft and creamy, I'd say it rivals my UD one that I have been using. Pigmentation is great, and it lasted all day. I can now throw out a few of the other black liners I have lying around. Awesome!

This is a lip pencil in Kinky! It's a pretty red, nice and vibrant. The liner is also smooth and creamy and long lasting. I didn't have a red liner, so I'm pretty excited to get this!

And, they sent the matching lipstick! This isn't quite as orange as it photographs, it's a beautiful color. Super creamy and it was long lasting for me, as well. Makes me want to wear red lips more often!

Here are the three products swatched on my arm.

And here is the liner and lipstick being worn. Ignore my bare face and ghost skin.

Loving these items! I think it's pretty amazing of Starlooks to send out a free birthday box, even more so that it is three full sized items. My love affair with this company continues!

Starlooks Starbox - April 2013

I've said it before, but Starbox is becoming my favorite sub. Every month, I enjoy pretty much everything in it! So, I was excited to wake up to my box today!

This month, they promised a neutral "No makeup look" month. As I have an abundance of color products, I was excited for something different!

Here's what I got.

We received four products this month, one being a  Starbox exclusive bonus. This bonus item was a mint lip balm! It is a clear, minty balm with SPF. I didn't photograph it separately, as it is a clear balm. I'm happy to get it, though! The box itself was adorable, too - blue and brown!

The first thing I saw was this - a Translucent/Nude Mineralized Loose Powder! This powder goes on completely invisible, and controls oil, sweat, and shine. I was just thinking that I needed to buy a powder before summer got here, so the timing is excellent! Super excited to get this.

This is a lash boost mascara base - a primer! It conditions lashes, helps prime them for growth, and acts as a thickening mascara base. You can also wear it alone on the lashes at bedtime for conditioning benefits. I tried my first lash primer last year and loved it, so I'm really happy to get this!

And finally, a Tendergloss lipstick in Trinity. Their Tenderglosses are really cool - they are essentially a hybrid between a lipstick and a lipgloss...they feel super light and moisturizing. This is a nude with golden shimmer. I'm ecstatic about it, it will be a perfect everyday lip product for me.

As always, I am super impressed with my Starbox this month. It remains my favorite sub, and I'm excited to use all of these products!

What's your favorite thing you've gotten recently?

Starlooks Starbox - March 2013

My favorite sub arrived today! We have been buried under a metric ton of snow, so I needed the cheer!

Starlooks Starbox is a sub that sends out 3-4 of their full sized makeup products a month. The quality is fantastic, and it's just a great sub and a great value!

They had played with the idea of starting a 3 month rotation - one month of neutrals, one of bold, then one of mixed, then repeat...but after receiving feedback, they decided not to go that route and instead try to send out something for everyone in each box. This box is considered a "mixed" month!

This month's box is a cute brown with blue print. I love that they change up their boxes to suit each month!

This box has three makeup items and a bonus! I love the card they send - it has little usage tips for each product as well as the retail price.

First, we got a brand new product - mascara! This is a HUGE lengthening mascara with a very fluffy brush. I love fluffy brushes and I am so excited to try this out. The packaging feels nice and expensive.

Next, an eyeshadow in "Disarray"! It looks brighter in the picture - it is actually just a beautiful navy blue with the slightest hint of shimmer. On the skin, it is nice and neutral - a grey navy hybrid. It feels nice and soft as all of Starlooks's shadows I have tried have been. It goes on sheer enough to be wearable but is easily buildable if you want it bolder.

This lipstick is in the shade "Flutter", and it is a frosty rusty golden bronzey red. It is warmer than I usually wear, but it is surprisingly nice and not too crazy looking! I'm excited to try this out with a neutral eye! The formula feels pretty good, and seems like it will be long lasting.

And finally, the bonus - A Starbox exclusive lip sugar lip scrub! This smells just like sugar cookies, tastes yummy, and is perfect for dry wintery lips. I have been wanting a scrub, and this is a very welcome addition to my box. Yum!

Here are quick swatches of the shadow and lipstick. Both are beautiful!

Yet again, I am beyond pleased with my box! These products are great for spring. Yet again, I can't recommend Starlooks Starbox enough! Now, I'm off to ignore the snow and play with my new goodies...

Starlooks Starbox - February 2013 Lauren Clark Special Edition

It's my favorite day of the month - the day I wake up to find my Starbox in my mailbox!

Starbox is a monthly subscription service by Starlooks, in which you receive 3-4 of their full sized makeup products each month...and over the last months, it has easily become my favorite sub! The product variety and quality is just great.

This month, Starlooks made a Special Edition collaboration box with makeup artist Lauren Clark.

The packaging is always nice, but it's extra cute this month, all pink and purple - perfect for February!

I really love their info cards - they always feature the products used in a beautiful way. The items included are listed on the back.

This month is a beautiful selection of products! I love pinks, and I love this variety! Items included are:

Pink Oasis lip gloss - This is a sheer, sparkly lavender gloss. It feels nice on the lips! It's not sticky, and it doesn't have a scent or flavor to it.

Barbie HD Fluid Blush - This is ridiculously pigmented! It's a lovely super saturated fluid blush...it is gorgeous and the smallest amount goes a long way.

Princess Diaries Eye Liner - This is a gorgeous pearlescent baby pink liner! It can be worn to line the eyes or to highlight, and it can also be worn as a shadow base or a cream shadow. It's also waterproof and smudge proof!

Lip Liner in Tipsy! This is a gorgeous creamy coral lipliner. It is a special Lauren Clark edition!

Here are swatches of all of the products. I'm super impressed with every single one of them! This might be my favorite month yet. Starlooks lists the retail value of the box as $41, but that is not counting the lipliner! Their liners are listed as $9.50 on their site, so assuming this special edition one is valued the same, the value of the box is actually about $50.50. Not bad at all!

Have you tried Starlooks yet?

Starlooks Starbox - January 2013

It's been a pretty blah week, so I was ecstatic to wake up to my Starlooks Starbox this morning!

Starlooks is quite possibly my favorite sub. The products are so high quality, and it's great to get an all makeup box (sometimes with tools!)

I love that they change up the box color every month. This one is super pretty...and since emerald is the color of the year, always happy to receive some greens!

This month includes four items and a bonus! Loving the bright colored packaging.

This cute green beaded bracelet is a bonus. It comes from Abby Rose Designs. It's a wrap bracelet, so it will fit everyone, and it's super cute.

This is a blush in the shade Cuty Peach. It's such a pretty color! Not as dark as it photographs, it's a lovely peach with just a hint of gold shimmer. It feels super soft and silky. Really excited about this!

This is a Diamondline pencil in the color Fancy. It's a beautiful metallic, shiny light green. It's freakin' gorgeous, and nice and soft. I can't wait to wear it. You can wear it alone or mixed or layered with other shades.

And this is an eyeliner in brown. A basic brown pencil is always welcome, and this one looks and feels  really nice. They say you can layer it with the Diamondline for a pretty olive color, so I'll definitely have to try that.

We also got a brush this month! A soft small dome fluff, which is great for all kinds of eye-related tasks. The brush is nice and feels well made, and of great quality.

The brush isn't too fluffy, which I love (I have an abundance of fluffy brushes at the moment) and it is a great shape and sizeAnd I actually don't have a brush shaped exactly like this so I'm more than happy to get it...it may even be my favorite thing in the box.

And the quartz crystal they always include is there, too (after a hiatus last month, due to the size of the palette). I think this is a pretty amazing box, and with a retail value of $63, definitely an amazing deal. So excited to wear my pretty new colors!

Have you tried Starlooks yet? If not, you should!
